Cross Christ Bore

The death and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are remarkably and accurately set forth in the Word of God. There is nothing so wonderful as the great accuracy with which God has set these truths in His Word. 

In the Gospel of John, in the 19^th chapter, and in the 17^th verse, we have one verse of scripture from which people have drawn all of their thinking, all of their actions. Even if their thinking and their actions have been contrary to the rest of the Word of God. So tonight, I'd like to handle with you the cross Jesus Christ bore.

I will not bring into this teaching platform a commentary. I will not bring into this auditorium a book that I want to read to you because of what somebody else says. But I’m going to bring in here the very book that has set men and women free down through the centuries. This book [The Bible], and you’re going to read it with me and I’m going to read it with you, and we are going to read it with an alacrity of mind, with a great spiritual understanding, that once again you can know God’s Word as God’s will.

John 10:10 is what turned me on. It is what set my life free. It is what changed my whole approach to life. Jesus said in verse 10, “The thief [the thief] cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and [to what?] to destroy: I am come [Jesus said, I am come] that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Our Rewards

As believers we have the Hope of Jesus Christ’s Return. 

At that time we will stand before God clothed in righteousness, 

before the bema, the judgment seat, 

where we will receive rewards 

for all that we have done for Him on earth. 

The greatest of the rewards available to the believer, 

are the five crowns.

 

The Crown Incorruptible

“Received for exercising self-control in all disciplined training.”

The Crown of Life

“Received for standing approved before God by rightly dividing

His Word in our lives.”

The Crown of Rejoicing

“Received for winning people to the Lord Jesus Christ after

we have rightly divided the Word of God.”

The Crown of Glory

“Received by leaders in the body of Christ for

feeding God’s people with His Word.”

“Received for all those believers who love His appearing.”
